Composer Feature: Dahlia Lagos
In December, we released a daring album, Intergalactic FuturePop Nation, inspired by the sounds of the nineties and noughties re-entering the mainstream of today's pop landscape.
The two tracks selected to open the album, Watch Me Take It All and Shake That, were written by Dahlia Lagos, a Colombian-American bilingual singer, songwriter, and producer. Dahlia has written and produced songs for STARZ's groundbreaking and critically acclaimed show VIDA, and her music has been featured on Showtime's The L Word: Generation Q, HBO's We're Here, and CW's Katy Keene. Most recently, Dahlia scored episodes for Hulu's Latinx Heritage Month: Acentos Bienvenidos.
"Watch Me Take It All was written as an angsty anthem for anyone who ever felt slighted by social norms, gender norms, or whose ability was ever doubted. On the surface, Watch Me Take It All may seem like another upbeat dramatic song, but at its core, it represents something that we all as people can relate to, finally being freed of the hold other people's judgement has on us. It emboldens the listener to take control and is a full-on display of someone doing just that." - Dahlia Lagos.
We hope to feature more of Dahlia's incredible music on future albums. For now, enjoy this short lyric video clip for Watch Me Take It All.
